Over the holidays, I travelled back to the suburbs of Chicago where I'm originally from. When I was in high school, I had access to a car and had quite the time traversing the suburban landscape, but now that I'm older (and don't have a car) I'm perplexed by the manifestations of homogeneity and separation that define it. The people that I knew and the person I was have passed. Last week, a lot of my time was spent sitting around in my parents basement while waiting for my friend Sean to pick me up. He's usually painstakingly late, so I recorded some quick covers of some of my favorite songs. I used the first acoustic guitar that I bought, using my laptop mic and some nasty plug-ins.
Despite the grayness of it all, I had a lot of fun.
